Girona Day 5 - Wait, are those sheep??

Updated: May 28, 2019

I’m looking forward to my second massage with Aurora as well. My legs need it!! I’m beat up. So sore from the back to back days. It’s weird, you are sore, and the moment you start riding and experiencing Girona, the soreness goes away. Everyone met in front of the Service Course at our usual start time of 9:30. It’s going to be such an adjustment to get back to waking up at 4:45 for a 5:30 workout. 9:30 is sleeping in and waking up late! Today is our Olive farm tour. Super cool, I don’t even know how Olive oil is produced. Is it a tree? Is it grown on the ground like a pumpkin? Such a city boy. The route out of Girona was different today. More park like. And that’s the thing with Girona, it doesn’t take long to get out off the city. 10-15 minutes at the most. But during this ride, we took some back roads that led to a freshly paved, windy, rolling beauty of a ride. It went on for miles. Beautiful. And it didn’t go through any farms so the smell of manure was not present. If there was one bad thing I had to say about our experience, it was the pervasive smell of manure. Things are so fresh there. And grown in Spain, so there are farms everywhere. Just something you have to get used to. Lots of people in the group did not take well to this smell. After a couple days, I was fine with it. When leaving the olive farm, the oddest thing of our trip happened. The running of the sheep!! We had to cross the street outside the olive farm but couldn’t because we had to wait for hundreds of sheep to pass. Epic! We eventually made our way through the mob of sheep and all the sheep poop they left behind. Another great evening of food and drinks and wine. Never gets old.
